Born out of experience that began in 1985, Omni has built an exceptional team of skilled and dedicated professionals who take pride in their work and have earned an outstanding reputation in the marketplace with clients, subcontractors, architects and other construction professionals.
A BRIEF HISTORY

Our founder, Kevin Chwala, started his career in facility maintenance; he fixed broken buildings. To manage this, he developed a foundation of communication that began with listening to what his clients needed and then responding with action as he promised.
As Kevin learned more about his clients’ buildings and their needs, he began to add services for them by starting new companies. Today, Omni Commercial Group, Inc. is one of many companies started by Kevin that focuses on construction issues; they all follow his original process of listening and responding with accurate action.

Our pride comes from fielding an experienced and skilled team of project managers and skilled laborers; most of them have been a part of the Omni team for over ten years. This consistency in our team gives our clients a company they can count on to take pride in their project.
Christina Chwala

Ms. Chwala provides executive oversight to our team and to each project. This includes a review of all project plans prior to and for the duration of the project as well as a review of all final paperwork, including all financial and AIA documentation. Ms. Chwala holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Illinois State University. She has been the president of Omni Commercial Group since 1996. From 1989 to 1994, Ms. Chwala worked for CR Industries (currently SKF USA) in accounts receivable and finance, managing monthly cash flows in excess of twenty-eight million. From 1994 to 1996, Ms. Chwala worked for Omni Commercial Group as manager of finance.

Mr. Chwala began his career in facilities maintenance of buildings. His 25+ years of experience in engineering, construction, and project management are a vital asset to client relationships Omni has forged throughout their history. As Kevin learned more about his clients in engineering, construction, and project management, he added services to fill their needs by starting new companies. Today, Omni Commercial Group, Inc. is one of many companies started by Kevin that focus on construction issues—all born out of his original process of listening and responding. This is still the foundation of our company today.
Brian Smith

Dr. Smith provides support to the entire team at Omni. Having helped develop policy and procedure for some of the largest construction companies in the United States, Brian brings to Omni over 29 years of organizational, procedural, and safety experience. Brian has a bachelor’s in accounting, multiple master’s degrees, including occupational safety, and a doctorate in organizational psychology.
Steve Whitecotton (Retired)

Mr. Whitecotton is one of our senior managers. Steve gained extensive experience in construction management after receiving his Bachelor of Science in operations management in 1983 and has been with Omni Commercial Group since 1996. Steve has managed projects for Hamilton Partners, CBRE, and US Equities and more with timelines generally between one to six months and budgets in from under one million to over ten million dollars.
Mike Dicker

Mr. Dicker is one of Omni’s senior project managers. Mike has been with Omni Commercial Group since 2001 as a senior project manager. Mike finished carpenter apprentice school and went into the trades. Mike began his project management career at RV Schuh where he was a project manager from 1998 to 2000. Mike has managed projects for Motorola, AbbVie, CBRE, and more with timelines in excess of six months and budgets in excess of ten million dollars.
Gardner Hjerpe

Mr. Hjerpe is one of Omni’s senior project managers. Gardner has been a project manager at Omni Commercial Group since 1999. After attending McHenry County College, Gardner joined the Carpenters Union in 1987. Gardner then worked for BBM Contractors (Lexington Homes) from 1987 to 1993 when he became a self-employed contractor, sub-contracting for companies like Knudsen and Fischer Brothers. Gardner has managed hundreds of projects, including most of the Motorola and US Cellular work at Omni.
Mike Guerrieri

Mr. Guerrieri has been in the commercial construction arena for over 29 years. Mike’s main focus is the self-performance arm of Omni Commercial where his knowledge of demolition, framing, drywall, and painting are an asset to the team. As a project manager, he is involved with projects starting with the proposal all the way through the close-out.
Rich Krause

Mr. Krause received a degree in computer-aided design (CAD) and brings a diverse background of CAD, cellular project management, and international logistics coordination skills to our team. He assists the project managers with the coordination of jobs and estimations.
Heather Horton

Ms. Horton will work directly with Mr. Dicker and Mr. Guerrieri to manage the day-to-day project plans and documentation required for the project. Heather has been a project administrator at Omni Commercial Group since 2001. Attending McHenry County College from 1997 to 2000, Heather gained her experience as a title clerk for Collins Ford and as an administrative assistant for Garret Feis & Associates prior to joining Omni Commercial Group.
Tara Bieniek

Ms. Bieniek is one of Omni’s project administrators responsible for assisting the project managers in their day-to-day operations, from estimating to project management. Tara has been with Omni Commercial Group since 2017 and came in with 12 years of construction experience. She has extensive knowledge in both private and public construction projects.
Cyndi Nelson

Ms. Nelson joined the Omni Commercial Group team in 2020 and supports our entire team in their day-to-day functions. As our communications coordinator, Ms. Nelson is responsible for ensuring our guests and vendors are properly taken care of and directed in the appropriate manner.
Connor Chwala

Mr. Chwala joined the Omni Commercial Group team in 2015 working as a logistics associate. After graduating from Grand Canyon University with his Bachelor of Science in business administration, Mr. Chwala worked his way up to become Omni’s organizational/safety coordinator. He conducts daily job site walk-throughs accompanied by daily reports; he takes pictures of job site progress and works with Omni’s project managers and superintendents to ensure projects run safely and efficiently. Mr. Chwala is also OSHA 30 certified.
Ramon Navarro

Mr. Navarro has been in the construction industry since 2009 and joined the Omni Commercial Group team as a project manager in 2022. Starting out as a carpenter’s apprentice, Mr. Navarro developed his skills and eventually became a superintendent for a general contractor. His role with Omni includes onsite visits, estimates, and project management of awarded projects from start to finish. As a first-generation American, Mr. Navarro is most proud of his life’s work, his wife, and his beautiful daughter. In his free time, he enjoys off-roading with his UTV and spending time with his family.
Donald Becker
Donnie joined the Omni team in the fall of 2022. He brings with him many years of experience in logistics coordination, with a focus on materials handling and delivery, primarily in the fields of construction and manufacturing. He works with the project managers and team to organize and facilitate the delivery of all supplies, tools, and materials for active projects in the Chicagoland area. In his time away from work, he can be found spending quality time with his wife and two children, catching up with friends, or watching football.
Patrick Thomas
Patrick joined the Omni team in the fall of 2022. Patrick comes from a large family and is a middle child with 11 siblings. He has proven himself to be organized, hardworking, and eager to learn. He works with the logistics team to ensure safe and timely delivery of all materials needed for the jobsites of active projects. Patrick considers himself to be “a jack of all trades, but a master of none”. When he is not working, he enjoys watching TV shows and streaming games on Twitch.
Reid Teeple
Reid started working with the Omni team in February of 2022. In addition to working full-time, Reid is also enrolled in classes at ECC. Reid is driven, reliable, and appreciates the variety of the day-to-day work that he completes in service of the team. One of his favorite aspects of working at Omni is the friendly environment filled with individuals willing to help one another. When not working or in school, Reid enjoys going to the gym and spending time with friends.

Our estimate is good for 30 days. After that we will determine if anything changed and provide a revision if needed.
No. We are happy to come out and look at the work you want done.
We work with a team of architects that can design and provide drawings for your project. Next, we handle the bidding process and receive three estimates from each trade needed and award the project to the most competitive/qualified subcontractor. Finally, we complete the project as designed.
Yes. Our team of MEP subcontractors can provide engineered stamped drawings and their specific permit applications to put with our general construction package to bring in for permit.
We can provide a lump sum proposal based on drawings and site visits, or we can offer a “Cost + Fee” where we will add a flat percentage fee to the actual cost of the project.
